The foundation: Humanity.
Humanity is the aim, the foundation of my art project. If/when the means to achieve the end are not humane, I don't think the process is worth anything.
PS. This, losing sight of humanity (as per our conveniences/situations/beliefs etc.) is one of the wrongs we have been repeating in our history (because to stick with it needs too much of everything eg. patience, understanding, efforts, time) and that is also one of the reason, I think, why we are stuck for this long, going in circles.
We can break the vicious cycle by including the *‘misfits’, treating them with understanding, listening to their reasons/whys, creating ‘humane’ environment around such person/s will heal and help them overcome the ‘bad’ innate ability. It wouldn’t take long, when we do it right, I think.
Besides, I also wonder how many of these *“misfits” (for want of better word) are created by us/society and how many could possibly be due to unfortunate genetic mutations.
*Misfit note : When I read some quotes, write up advising to leave the negative/toxic people out/get away from them, it makes me wonder. I mean, there has to be a reason why these negative/toxic people have become the way they have, isn't it? Inside something must be hurting them. Not knowing how to deal with it, outwardly it gets manifested in the manner they behave with others.
Deeper the hurt, the more time and care it would need to heal. Imagine if the wounds were outside, on the body so one could see it, how very careful and caring we would be? But these wounds are internal, intangible. When/if we leave them out, they are going to get more bitter about the treatment we are meting out to them, making them even more toxic, no?
