Utopian musings of my mind : Experimental art project. Imagining the possibilities : Yearning to be human.
Our (adapted) conversation
E : Yesterday I listened to 2 books.
F : Oh! and, nice?
E : For me yes and I wish you listen to it too but I know you won't.
F : Why? What was it about?
E : War.
F : Yeah, of course, I wouldn't. Why must I listen to something which I think is so absurd, destruction of so many beautiful things? I would rather use the time to think how we can do without wars.
E : That's the problem with you. You are not in touch with reality.
F : Why does the reality have to be suffering and painful? Why can't it be beautiful? And are YOU ok with wars?
E : No.
F : Voila!! You have been listening to the war stories since you were 3, you drew war paintings, you saw war movies and documentaries, you joined the army to know what you were against, you have gathered so much knowledge about almost all the wars in history and till now, you are listening to the war stories. I don't understand this. It really upsets me people with brains, when they know something is not right or are not happy about, instead of thinking/doing something to rectifying it, to make it better, they just be sitting helpless, doing nothing.
E : You don't understand. We don't get to decide anything. There are others, in power, who decide for you. And there is lot of money and power involved in wars and lot of people are in favor of it.
F : What I understand is, war brings in a lot of misery, death, violence, mental and physical trauma, orphans, widows, handicaps etc. And WE are the cause of creating this unnecessary misery. And then I think, what it's all good for? We have so many other things to "fight" for. No? Imagine if all the countries' defense budget be used for research, do brand new stuff only possible in theory for lack of funds, benefiting the humanity.
And if people are interested in money and power, let them have and keep it. But who says one can have money and power only by resorting to 'bad' things. One can also do good stuff and make money. People will be happy to help. I think it's just a matter of changing the perspective. Imagine instead of unhealthy foods and drinks, when businesses engage in making tasty and healthy stuff, you think they won't make money? They will, plus people will be happy and healthy. Instead of violent games and movies, try doing the opposite, giving better ideas to the young minds. Don't you think that's a better way of living, when we HAVE to live (till we die) anyway?
